DESTINATION

NAIROBI - KENYA

Nairobi is the capital of Kenya. It is a bustling international city with over ten million inhabitants. This city is known as the "City in the Sun"; some refer to it as the New York of Africa.

Nairobi boasts of being the only city in the world with a national park within its city limits. Nairobi National Park is only 7 km from Nairobi's towering skyscrapers and a 15-minute drive from the city centre to the National Park.

You can enjoy many wild animals in the national park, such as Lions, Cheetahs, Zebras, Rhinos, Buffaloes, Antelopes and Elephants roaming the savannah.

The city has long been known as the gateway to great African safari adventures, but Nairobi has much more exciting to offer:

- National Museum of Kenya: Visit the museum to experience the rich history and diverse Kenyan tribal cultures.

-Karen Blixen Museum: From the famous book and movie ¨Out of Africa¨, its lovers can visit Ngong Hills to see where the Danish author worked on his coffee farm.

In 1989, Nairobi National Park became a notorious site for destroying a large amount of ivory when President Moi set fire to 12 tons of ivory, cementing the country's wildlife conservation position on the world stage. Even today, there is a monument marking this place.

Another tourist attraction is the Nairobi Safari Walk. Here, you will have the chance to walk on the path known as ¨Hippo Pools¨ and have the opportunity to discover wild animals on foot.

-David Sheldrick's Wildlife Foundation: This is an orphanage and sanctuary for orphaned elephants and rhinos where you can cuddle and bond with these unique baby animals. You can also visit the giraffe centre, where you can feed the giraffes up close. All these unique tourist attractions are within a 20-minute drive from the outskirts of Nairobi.
