Seven days of hiking plus arrival day, rest day and departure day, ten days total. Many clients add a safari after Kilimanjaro or stay behind to visit Zanzibar or other destinations.
Machame Route
This route is so popular because every day, a completely different ecosystem presents itself; within a few days, you will be able to climb Kilimanjaro from the equator, and you will move through the grass and marshlands, tropical rainforest, alpine meadows, snow and ice to reach the top.
Also known as the "whiskey" route by many travellers, this is a seven-day climb full of breathtaking scenery. The seven days also allow for excellent acclimatization. About 40% of climbers use this route.
We usually start this climb from the mountain's southwest side and walk through the southeast side. This route choice allows you to sleep at the same altitude for three nights, which greatly helps your acclimatization, dramatically increasing your chance of successfully reaching the summit. Our current success rate for reaching the top is around 80%.
The number of days we run our climb to Mt Kilimanjaro is regulated by the (International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation) and our judgement. This recommendation reduces the chance of altitude sickness and increases the success of reaching the summit. Seven is the minimum recommended climbing days by the UIAA.
Our main goal is for you to reach the top and get the classic Mt Kilimanjaro summit experience, so the whole team at Adventure Global will be with you all the way to give you the necessary help and support to successfully summit Africa's highest peak.
