LONDON - UK

London, the capital of Great Britain, is a world-renowned city in Europe. With a population of nearly 9 million people, it is the largest city in England. London serves as an ancient core and the financial centre of Europe, situated by the Thames in the southeast and stretching 80 km eastward to the North Sea. For over two millennia, it has been a significant settlement.

The name London has historically referred to the metropolis around its core, which was divided between the counties of Middlesex, Essex, Surrey, Kent, and Hertfordshire. Since 1965, this area has primarily comprised Greater London, governed by 33 local authorities and the Greater London Authority.

London is the administrative centre of England, hosting the Parliament of Westminster, 10 Downing Street, the official residence of the Prime Minister, and Buckingham Palace, the monarchy's official residence.

As the most visited city in Europe and one of the world's largest global cities, London is strongly influenced by its diverse culture consisting of over 300 languages, arts and entertainment, fashion, commerce and finance, education, health sciences and technology, tourism transport and communication.

London also boasts of hosting world-renowned sporting events such as the FA CUP Final, held annually at Wimbledon stadium, the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, and the London Marathon. London was also the first city to host three Summer Olympics.

In addition to its ancient history, London has many tourist attractions to offer. It has four World Heritage sites: the Tower of London, Kew Gardens, the combined Palaces of Westminster, Westminster Abbey and St Margaret's Church, and the historic settlement of Greenwich Meridian and Greenwich Medieval.
London has many other landmarks to visit, such as Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Piccadilly Circus, Tower Bridge, Trafalgar Square, and many museums and art galleries.
